Why record a musician in a hot room?
Why pursue to continue this series ?

I always try to stick to my why. It’s challenging at times but I believe in the pursuit of constantly trying to stay on the path of why this whole journey began in the first place.

My life has been influenced heavily by music from both sides of my parents but a direct impact in particular from my mother who is a singer. I can’t remember when music was never on from all of my family.
The kitchen in the mornings,
The journey to school with my dad slamming the top of the dashboard ,
In the shower,
It is and always has been in my life. Until leaving I didn’t realise how silent life can be and that I was although always around music I was never the one making sure it was on and how I all of a sudden I started hearing my own voice a lot more.
My self talk was dominating my day as opposed to the music I was so used to.

In the pursuit of making Fad Saoil Saunas a dream , I managed to get out first sauna delivered and I remember showing it to all my nearest and dearest. All of the reactions were amazingly received and varied but
my mothers in particular was totally shocked and amazed but nothing really to do with the sauna at all !
It was more an instant realisation of how good the acoustics were.

“Wow this is incredible and oh my god the acoustics in here are f!€;ing amazing”
Followed by a tune bellowed
(Ella Fitzgerald classic)
And I was just in shock 😮

“What the hell was that 😂 , oh my god there is something here”

Anyway,
We started the journey of the saunas many voyages and throughout this a bump in the road that goes by the name of COVID 19 hit. We all don’t need to be reminded about the devastation and many negative impacts this time brought upon us but, now I am in a very privileged position to be able to look back and see some of the many positives upon reflection this time gave me and us all.

It gave me personally time back (whether I wanted it or not at the time),
It made me have to give into that time,
It made me have to make decisions with my time as time is the most precious commodity we have on this planet.
Time to reconnect with others (from a distance of course) but it made me not take for granted the phone calls, the conversations that were being had and speaking to mum she said something about “how devastating it would be being a musician at this time”
Not being able to perform and express your music as a musician is like taking away their being.
Not being able to communicate through song could be crippling mentally for many.
So like everything we do in Fad Saoil ,
“If we can help , than we will help, as long as, we make it fun while doing so”

We created this platform to help local Irish artists be given a platform to perform to an audience , virtually of course but again there is always something that can be done when life throws you these adversity’s, there is always a way to adapt.
We got students from sound engineers, videographers to get involved so it was of quality and allowed them to build their own portfolio.

A FULL TEAM EFFORT 🔥

It made me realise the time we have here is never guaranteed and what ever ideas that I truly loved, to just go and do them and don’t think about measuring the result of it.
Enjoy the creation of it,
Enjoy the potential of the vision of it,
Enjoy the process of it all and this is where
“Sauna sessions” was created.

We had the pleasure of having ‘Brad Heidi’ one of Ireland’s most up and coming artists to be the first musician in our Salthill Studio in Galway.

This was a special one for me as during my time in Galway (8 years ago) I heard Brad busking outside one of my favourite coffee shops in the world “coffeewerk and press” and videoed his rendition of Post Malone “fall apart”.
We than crossed paths at a music festival and had spoke to him about doing a sauna sessions with us when he was ever available. Not only that was it a special moment as my brother Jody is the one who has shot and captured this magic in all its glory 🙌🏽❤️
Like anything in life if it’s meant to be for you it won’t pass you by and I was not letting the opportunity of having Brad not only do a sauna sessions with us pass us by, but, to have him be one of the first ones in our Galway Studio was something very special and I think we can all agree this man is a super talent but what I want to tell you all is that he outworks most in his field on his profession in his pursuit of his passion.
